The Revolution has arrived and it's.............No-Screens Technology

Phat Glass Designs answer to every smokers problems. The bowls of most pipes, bongs and hookah's are merely holes on which you have to apply ugly and harsh smoking metal pipe screens. We have made pipe screens a thing of the past.

No Screens Technology is a scientifically applied process to which we solve the problem with the use of tried and tested methods converted from laboratory techniques.

The bowls are blown and then closed and holes are perforated in an even pattern so there is no need for metal screens. Every bowl is matched to the size of the pipe ensuring it gives a smooth, clean smoke while still being versatile enough to accommodate all types of tobacco, legal blends, buds and legal solids unlike many products which only have legal bud in mind.

Cleaning of the bowls is easy. When you feel the pipe is getting blocked simply take a small shirt pin or equivalent and clean vertically through the holes. It is best to do this when the Pipe or Slider is warm. The inside of the piece can be cleaned with a cotton/ear bud.

All our glassware, except standard Bubblers, has No Screens Technology and is made from laboratory grade borosilicate (Pyrex) for a smoother, cleaner smoke.

What is Dichroic Glass?

Dichroic Glass is the result of placing a multi-layered coating on glass using a highly technical vacuum deposition process. Metal oxides are vaporized with an electron beam gun in an airless vacuum chamber. The vapour then floats upward and first attaches and then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. The glass we use has as many as 65 layers of these materials, yet the thickness of the total coating is approximately 2-3 millionths of an inch. Unusually, the metal oxides are clear and have no inherent colour by themselved. No gels, paints, or dyes in this process- only metal oxides.

Dichroic Glass was originally created for the aerospace industry by NASA, for use in satellite mirrors, multiple ultra-thin layers of different metals (Gold, Silver, Titanium, Chromium, Aluminium, Zirconium, Magnesium and Silicon) are applied to the surface of the glass in a vacuum chamber. Dichroic Glass is specifically designed to be hotworked, but it is just as beautiful in its raw form.

The main characteristics of dichroic glass is that it has a transmitted colour and a completely different reflective colour.  (di-two, chroic-colours; dichroic-two colours)  Light passing through dichroic glass transmits one colour, while light bouncing off dichroic reflects another colour.  And to make it even more amazing, these two colours shift depending on your angle of view.  When you combine the play of light with the vibrant colours of dichroic glass, the visual beauty will captivate the imagination and delight you!

'Soft' or soda glass dichroic is common however we only use the highest quality 'hard' Pyrex glass with stunning results.

We have a range of pipes with dichroic glass we also offer custom designed dichroic bong bowls and dichroic glass marbles for pipes.
